| Lawrence Landry was an Civil Rights activist and leader of Chicago Area Friends of SNCC. Landry was one of the primary organizers of the 1963 Chicago Public School Boycott. He went on to found the community-based civil rights group ACT! and ended his career as a social science researcher focusing on poverty and community empowerment. He died in 1997.
